Perlite is an inorganic clay mineral of volcanic origin. Its properties make it ideal for hydroponics involving both horticultural and floricultural species.

It is composed of grains 1-5mm in diameter, is very light and can retain 3-4 times its weight in water.

Some of the advantages of perlite:

• Excellent root ventilation
• Water capacity from 28% to 50% according to the coarseness of the perlite
• Free from salts, elements and with a neutral pH
